Michael A. Schwarz
Michael A. Schwarz is a freelance photojournalist formerly on the staffs of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and Gannett Rochester Newspapers.
He is a three-time nominee for the Pulitzer Prize and was a recipient of the Dag Hammarskjöld Award for Human Rights Advocacy Journalism and the
Canon Photo Essay Award from the Pictures of the Year competition. He was named Northern Short Course Photographer of the Year by the National Press
Photographers Association. In a national search he was chosen by LIFE magazine as one of the country's outstanding young photographers. He is a frequent
exhibitor and lecturer on photojournalism. As a Blue Pixel certified trainer, he has taught digital photography to thousands of photographers through the
Nikon Digital School. He has contributed to numerous photo books and published his first solo book in 1998. He has completed more than 1,800 assignments
for publications such as USA Today, Fortune, The Chronicle of Higher Education, The New York Times, National Geographic Traveler, Nation's Business, U.S.
News & World Report, Business Week and Forbes.
