LockTight System FAQs
Here are a few commonly asked questions about LockTight:
How does LockTight work?
A photographer activates the secure functionality of a card with an easy-to-use software tool. The software lets the user establish security settings on
both the memory card and corresponding digital cameras. Digital content stored on the card can only be accessed via the digital camera(s) with the
corresponding encryption key, or via a PC with a valid username and password. The system's administrative tool enables the highest level of security,
without sacrificing camera performance.
Why use LockTight?
Often, the most valuable asset carried by a digital photographer are the images that he or she captured during a shoot. The content stored on his or her
flash memory card can be worth more than the digital camera that captured that content. LockTight allows any photographer who puts a high value on their
captured images to keep that information secure, while ensuring peace of mind. Once enabled, LockTight prevents all unauthorized users from accessing the
stored information.
In addition, professionals in a variety of vertical markets who have a need to keep content safe and secure will also use LockTight to protect images and
information. Government officials who carry classified information in digital format, insurance agents who frequently record evidence relating to insurance
claims, and law enforcement professionals who carry confidential and personal information are among the many categories of professionals who can benefit from
using LockTight memory cards.
Do I need a Nikon D2X digital camera to use LockTight?
Currently, the answer is yes. However, since late 2004, when Lexar announced that it would provide this new technology to digital camera companies,
much interest from other manufacturers has been expressed. Lexar anticipates that other major digital camera companies will incorporate LockTight technology
in new products.
