Best Storage Products at Gamescom 2026: Gaming SSDs, DDR5 & Switch 2 Storage

Current highlights range from the tactical gameplay of STAR WARS Zero Company to the expansive worlds of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Songs of the Past and The Blood of Dawnwalker. Meanwhile, Street Fighter 6, Crazy Taxi: World Tour, and EA SPORTS FC 27 will bring fighting, racing, and sports gaming into the spotlight.

From August 26 to 30, Lexar will bring a complete lineup of gaming storage and memory solutions to Gamescom 2026, supported by live tournaments, gaming stations, and hands-on activities.

Built for Bigger Worlds and Faster Competition
As games become larger and more detailed, high-speed storage plays an increasingly important role in system responsiveness and loading performance.
The Lexar NM990 M.2 2280 PCIe 5.0 NVMe SSD delivers read speeds of up to 14,000MB/s and write speeds of up to 11,000MB/s. The Lexar Professional NM1090 PRO raises read/write performance to as much as 14,400/13,400MB/s, supported by DRAM and SLC dynamic caches for demanding gaming and creative workloads.
For gaming PCs and compact gaming systems, the Lexar PLAY X M.2 PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD offers read speeds of up to 7,400MB/s and write speeds of up to 6,500MB/s, with support for both M.2 2230 and M.2 2280 form factors.
Lexar will also showcase two DDR5 memory solutions. ARES RGB 2nd Gen DDR5 delivers speeds of up to 8,000MT/s, while THOR RGB 2nd Gen DDR5 offers 6,000MT/s and 7,600MT/s configurations. Both support Intel XMP 3.0 and AMD EXPO and combine effective thermal management with customizable RGB lighting.
At the booth, the memory products will be displayed alongside gaming PCs, allowing visitors to see how SSDs and memory fit into a complete gaming setup.

Ready for Nintendo Switch 2
Nintendo Switch 2 is one of the key platform stories at Gamescom 2026, with the Gamescom Award introducing a dedicated “Best Nintendo Switch 2 Game” category.
Designed for next-generation handheld gaming, the Lexar PLAY PRO microSDXC Express Card uses PCIe and NVMe technologies to deliver read speeds of up to 900MB/s and write speeds of up to 600MB/s on compatible devices.
